  • Maxxum

The maxxum uses minolta glass so the image is going to be fairly good. And it's very easy to use in that it threads the film and controls all aspects of the camera automatically. But the camera is very light and inexpensive, originally. Dare I say it? It's a cheap camera that can take some good images. However, because of the age the electronics tend to fail and it costs way more to repair them than to replace them. They are so cheap on ebay you can simply buy a new one until you get one that works and keep on shooting. The primary drawback for this camera from a technical viewpoint is it's virtually total lack of control. An experienced SLR shooter is accustomed to being able to control the aperture and shutter speeds, the depth of field, and so forth. The Maxxum 300si has some ...

  • Can't take a bad picture with it . . . .

I've bought several of this model camera on ebay and have been very happy with the pictures the Maxxum 300i has produced. It is remarkably easy to use (you really can't take a bad picture with it. It is lightly built. That means it weighs very little but might imply that it could be broken easily if dropped. I haven't done that yet so I don't know and don't care to find out. The pictures that come from it are as good as those of cameras costing over $1000. My only personal gripe is the autowinder is pretty slow - I'd bet it's less than 1.5 frames a second. The built in flash is a nice feature that is useful for taking pictures closer than 10 feet away. That's good enough for typical indoor flash pictures, but you can always get a full power flash for the hot shoe. The only reason I ...

  • Maxxum 300si

this is an older model camera built in the early 1990's but still performs well. this model actually has one feature that i have found to be very usefull. the built-in flash on this camera is stationary so no need to pull it up or put it down. it is just there ready to use whenever needed. minoltals metering system on there consumer cameras seems to me to be better than any other brand. so you can buy a lower end camera like this one and it will still give you a good exposure.this model is great for a novice who still wants to be able to add different lenses.

  • Awesome camera

This is my second Minolta Camera and I totally love it. The auto focus feature is great if your a beginner or an expert. The camera body is contoured on the right side to fit comfortably in your hand so you don't drop it. These days people are leaning towards digital cameras and I like the ability to have an actual old school photo in my hands. This camera takes very clear photos.

  • Truly a Great Buy

I was looking for a replacement for my old Minolta X-7. I wanted something that would go with the new digital Sony Alpha camera when I make the switch. This camera was in EXCELLENT shape and it fit the bill. Only problem is that coming from a manual camera this new "point and shot" takes some getting use to. I think that it is the perfect fit for anyone who has little photography knowledge and wants to take better than average pictures. This is the camera for them. Anyone with skill can override the autofocus and frame the picture and focus it manually. For the beginner as well as the causal user, this is the perfect camera. When it is time to go digital your lens investment will be still there working for you. The lens are excellent. Everything works and the lenses on perfect. I am very ...
