I used to use these vacuums in commercial cleaning nightly at banks. It would clean beyond my expectations for a small lightweight machine. I bought it for my sister and she loves it.

I like that this product is very lightweight! It does a wonderful job on the carpets in my home. It fluffs up the carpets and does a good job on picking up pet hair. The only thing that I don't like about the product is that, it does a poor job on my hardwood floors and linoleum floors. The brushes don't set close enough to the floor and the beaters in front spin all the dirt around all over the rest of the floor. I wish a person could set the height level on this vacuum. I also wish that this product would have a telescoping wand that lifts out for stairs and dirt in corners to suck up. I liked the price that it was on ebay is why I purchased this product. It was hundreds below from what it is from the company.
We recently bought an Oreck XL21 vacuum cleaner through ebay and are quite happy with it. We had owned an Oreck for about 15 years and it finally developed a problem--either a switch or something electrical, so we decided to get another vacuum rather than fix it. After much internet research, we decided to stick with an Oreck since we liked the old one and it lasted rather well. The drawback was the $799 price-tag, so we turned to ebay. I had read several reviews of people who bought them from ebay (new/refurb/showroom models etc) and liked them. The vacuum is much like the old model, but the XL21 has several upgrades: stronger handle (more solid), more powerful, easier to push, lower profile to name a few. It seemed well worth stepping up from the lower models. Essentially though, it is like all other Orecks--light, easy to use, good suction, simple design, durable, dependable. The only shortcoming I've ever noticed is the lack of attachments. This weighed heavily on me in making the decision, but we loved our old one, bought a Dirt Devil hand vac in lieu of attachments, and love this one. We have stairs, and the vacuum's light enough that we actually use it.--and that's got to be better than having a wand or crevice tool. We looked at Dyson, and were tempted, but further study led me to believe it pulls too much of the fiber out of the carpets (too stiff a brush?) and is heavy and awkward. There are lots of other machines/brands that appear to have excellent quality/features, so look around for what fits you. The Oreck fit us for 15 years, so we stuck with what we know works for us.Read full review
Primarily why I decided to buy an Oreck was it is very lightweight and I have 3 floors in my house so it makes it so easy to carry up and down the stairs. I hated lugging a heavy vac around before. I love the fact that it has automatic height adjustment because I have finished wood floors and rugs, also carpeting. It won't scratch my wood floors and I was concerned about that. It also has good suction and it's self-propelled so I don't have to push it hard-it glides so easy! The only thing I dislike is that there is no on board hose with attachments. I love the fact that while you're vacuuming, the upright vac is releasing a nice fragrance so everything smells good and clean. I also think it's a little overpriced but I do like the fact that it has a 21 year warranty. Just don't forget to bring it in at least once a year or it will void the warranty. I also purchased the Oreck Housekeeper canister vac which I use for upholstery/stairs. It is also lightweight and has a carrying strap.Read full review
