    A true Classic with a couple modern amenities

    I think it's pretty widely accepted that the Buck 110 and 119 are two of the most classic and iconic knives ever produced. There are good reasons why the designs have stood the test of time. With these designs, Buck offered (and continues to offer) the combination of great quality, durability, and value. Many would agree that any Buck 119 is a great knife. But, add-in the combination of an S30V blade and Micarta handle, and you've got the makings of an amazing tool that is guaranteed to become an heirloom. You just can't go wrong with this knife.

    Buck 117 - perfect size

    The Buck 117 is an excellent choice for a small and medium game knife. Taking the handle size of the Buck 105, the length of the Buck 118, and the shape of the Buck 119 and combining it into one knife results in a comfortable grip and a blade that isn't too long for waterfowl, saltwater fish, yet is still useful for cleaning whitetail. If I was going to stick with one knife for most all my game cleaning chores this would be it.

    Buck #119 Red Phenolic Handle

    This review is about the handle especially. It's a good sturdy materiel like the black handle. Same but only red instead of black. This one goes in my collection Now waiting for a blue version to go with my white and red handled knives. I use my black ones for work.

    Rugged aand just the right size

    This knife is all good . I have been a Buck knife person for 45 years. This new design is nothing less than great. It is a beefed up version of the 118 and will work really well in the field.
