Product Information

The hit British comedy returns in all its bawdy glory with this first collection of episodes from the fifth series of the show. Rene (Gorden Kaye) is constantly beleaguered by problems, most of them caused by his overbearing wife. A botched attempt at getting rid of her by faking his own death leads his troublesome spouse to take over the reins of Rene's cafe, which he leaves to her in his will. Returning as his identical twin brother, he has to renege on his agreement to marry his shapely waitresses Yvette (Vicki Michelle) and Maria (Francesca Gonshaw), and attempt to win back the heart of his former wife in order to regain control of his cafe! Meanwhile, the Second World War rages on around Rene and the cast of oddballs, but this seems to be the least of their problems in this riotously funny show.

    Title and front page stand out with a real difference

    We loved it . Have volumes 1234 which is virtually hard to find as was British series about WW2. The British have there own separate way in regards to comedy. This series is uplifting, never uses foul language and gets the point across, with a humor all its own, not the typical dry as most people unjustly assume. Excellent for ages 13 plus. The covers themselves tell you upfront with a different cover picture to guide you to which region the DVD will play in. Thumbs up!!!

    Classic English Comedy

    I absolutely LOVE this series. The intellectual use of comedy within in a period piece makes this series unique. Poor Rene, he should run for office after the war! The first couple of episodes (series 1) are a bit slow but subsequent ones speed up and keep momentum and non-stop laughs. A definate collection piece right up there with ARE YOU BEING SERVED.
