Steller-Fire Sega CD Review “This is perhaps the coolest Sega CD game I've ever played" I remember the day I brought this game home. Right away, I was hooked. I played this game for hours at a time, for months. Then, it sort of just drifted away. I got the Play Station and all of a sudden, this game no longer appealed to me. Graphics – 6 While they might not be too spectacular, they are cutting edge for the time this game came onto the scene. The graphics are simple 3 dimensional, geometric figures lacking color (usually they were just different shade of one color). Some enemies are simply wire frame (you can see right through them). The landscape looks good considering when this game was made. Its never ending allowing you the freedom to go anywhere you desire. Of course, the whole planet looks exactly the same so there’s really now point in exploring. (And to be completely honest, it also plays like Atari’s BattleZone game but without the green vector graphics. These are solid 3D and in full color!) Sound – 9 Man, I remember this was great sounding back then and it’s still as good today. Like any other Sega CD game, you could stick this into your CD player and play the sound-track. It’s safe to say, if you love base, you’ll love this sound-track. Though it might be close to impossible to get the game, I’m pretty sure getting the music from it will be much easier. Story – 6 You’re average fantasy story. It’s the future (2206 to be exact) and there is this race of aliens trying to take over Earth. But there is only one thing standing in their way, you. Concept – 6 This isn’t too original either. (Boys & girls, can you say “BattleZone"!?!) You travel to different planets in the Sol system (6 in all), blasting baddies, defeating bosses on all planets. That’s it, complete this, you save the earth and everyone can go home. Control – 7 Not much here, just move with the directional pad, shoot and use bombs. This is only Sega CD, what do you expect? Replay – 7 Well, like I said in my introduction. I was addicted to this game when I first got it and being a Nerd, the older vintage games always win out! Overall – 7 It was a great game back then, and it’s still a great game.
