In the role of a "born survivor" like Bear Grylls, players face the perils of deadly terrain and wild animals, while fending off the more insidious dangers of starvation and dehydration. Based on the same-titled reality television series, which airs on the Discovery Channel in the U.S., Man vs. Wild strands players in expansive areas of virtual wilderness and challenges them to make it out alive. As on television, the player's onscreen persona parachutes into each scene, alone and with no helpful equipment. The goal is to make it across the untamed territory to a pre-determined extraction point, and the test is in surviving the journey. Each wild area presents a fresh series of action-oriented challenges and environmental puzzles.<br><br>To make it through most scenarios, players will need to find food, water, and shelter, and be ready to defend themselves against hungry predators in their natural environments. They'll also face emergencies that require cool-headed, quick thinking, such as sinking in a pit of quicksand or being attacked by a shark while aboard a hand-made raft. Many situations in the game provide an opportunity for informative commentary from Bear Grylls, who explains crucial concepts and clever techniques in voiceover. In the game's normal mode, a series of glowing icons helps guide players in the right direction through each territory. A hardcore difficulty setting removes these visual hints, for a more authentically unabated survivalist challenge.

    Fun game, better than any review will make you think

    This game was better than I thought, many reviews made it sound unplayable, but it is actually very fun. Bear himself narratives as you play just like the show, it's great. The graphics are smooth which was surprising because every video review looked awful. Finally, as you play short videos are unlocked from Man vs. Wild(it was a nice touch). Much better than any review I saw or read.

    Absolutely do not waste your money on this game.

    The concept of the game is unique and interesting, but the design and execution is horrible. It's a shame because the idea has a lot of potential as a video game. The game play is very linear, meaning the player follows a predetermined path through the virtual environment. The virtual environment is very small so there isn't much room for mystery or exploration. The player can build a shelter and camp fire, for example, but only in a specific predetermined location. Wildlife which poses a threat to the character always exist in the same locations so the game is very predictable. Objects which must be collected within the game stand out with bright yellow highlighting so there is no challenge in finding them. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about this game. I turned it off ...

    If you are a fan of Bear Grylls, and his intro music, ha! then buy this game, why not. As for gamers.... no. it is a bad game. Unless you want fast and easy gamer points. The training part alone gives you 40. I bought it knowing its bad but this family is a Bear Grylls fan!
