  • Great book about friends, if you like the Berenstain Bears

This is better than the newer Berenstain Bear books written by Jan and her son. They are quite preachy and overtly Christian. This teaches traditional values of good manners and kindness without beating you over the head. Sister has her first meeting with Lizzy. We see how Lizzy is bossy, self-centered, and rambunctious, Even more so than Sister. But they get into a fight about who gets to play what role in a game, and they have a falling out. Sister reconsiders as Mama helps her weigh the pros and cons of dealing with Lizzy's personality or playing alone. In the end, the door opens, Lizzy comes in ready to apologize and forgive and Sister is the same. I thought it was interesting that the book might have been making a point about how an only child is more difficult to get along ...

  • Leaning to read at 5.

I bought this book for my 5 year old grandson who is learning to read. The pictures and story line are easy to understand and entertaining. The Berenstain Bears are a cute way of teaching children to get along with others. I am glad that I tried this book and will be buying others about the Berenstain Bears.
