Excellent History and Socialogic Lesson
The program was reviewed over a one week period so it was roughly one DVD per day. From the outset the tone was excellent and progressively describes NYC history from inception. Turmoil, advancement and development are combined to paint a portrait of New York unequaled in my experience. Although I am not a formal critic or history major I did find that although in very few instances an impasse......the knowledge and perspective is unique to any program ever [previously viewed. I highly recommend purchase and viewing. The program was reviewed over a one week period so it was roughly one DVD per day. Ulitmate Documentary film about New York!
I wanted to know everything about New York. This documentary gave me about 80% of what i was looking for. It's not a 100% (for me) because I wish that it reveiwed all the boroughs and not just Manhattan. However, the review of Manhattan and how New York began upto the WTC Towers and 911, is superb, and is in my opinion, the best New York history documentary possible. It took 10 years to produce, what an incredible effort. I enjoyed it to the maximum. Interesting to know the extremes that New York has, and the heights it has enjoyed as the "capital of the world". If you want to know about New York and its influence on the rest of the US and world, then this documentary is the one to watch.I wanted to know everything about New York. History of New York
This is one of the best documentaries I have seen. The vintage film along with the narration is phenomenal, and the music is fantastic. I actually bought the soundtrack, the music is so good. If you love NY and want to know the whole history, this is the set for you!
