A bargain in the sweet spot of mid-range AV receivers
These Denon receivers have a lot of possibilities, but the documentation isn't the best and it is difficult to program some functions. Not too surprising, AV receivers these days seem like they are made to fly aircraft. The sound is clean and pretty powerful, the inputs are assignable or renameable, and a nice feature is that any devices connected by HDM I that you power up will also trigger the receiver to turn on and switch to that input automatically. One drawback is that incoming signals from HDMI are not passed along to your display unprocessed; this results in slight blurring from my HD cable box through the receiver and on to my 4K TV. My previous receiver, an NAD, did not perform any signal processing and the TV did a better job of up-converting. This series touts ethernet network accessibility, but I haven't gotten mine to recognize my LAN yet, so I can't stream to it. Remote is overwrought and not illuminated. A universal remote would make tasks easier.

Great system for sound only
These are great for smart houses and music as they sit well on a network and are easily configured. Airplay streams extremely well. Ok for home theatre but no 4k HDMI support on the older models such as this - so my point in being only good for running speakers and playing music . Outdated for current/coming Home Theatre needs

Beware of buying
It was missing one of the speaker terminals in the back when it came to me. I didn’t see it in the package thinking it may have happened during shipping but was not there. They shipped it that way. Luckily I was able to get a banana plug in the hole for a connection.
