Impressive tablet, but seek out ones that have had the Oreo update
Bought as a replacement for an ailing Nexus 7 - slim, fast and expandable storage -- what's not to like? Similar screen resolution (1920 x 1200) to the Nexus 7 - better than current "small" tablets from Samsung and slightly more system RAM than the Nexus (2 GB vs. 1.5 GB). 8 cores do provide for speedy responses and the fingerprint sensor works well. Build quality is good and the tablet uses USB-C so no more micro USB! It does not support wireless charging, unfortunately. I recommend findling one that has had the upgrade to Android Oreo completed since that includes the security updates into 2019, unlike Nougat-based machines that have had no security updates since 2017. Unfortunately, Lenovo's support of the upgrade from Android 7.1 to 8.1 is sketchy at best, so if you are ... Quite good for the price, but still suffers from bloatware and a company that is out of touch with its customers.
It's enough faster than the sub-$100 models to use a lot of the apps those can't. The 2GB of memory also helps there. The battery does not discharge overnight when not in use (like NextBook's do). It lasts several times longer under intensive use than tablets in the $50 to $100 range. And of course, the battery charges very quickly. The image quality is excellent. I've read other reviews comparing it favorably to Apple's Retina screens. While I have little experience with those, I can say that the image quality is extremely good, and the color is quite vivid. It's not all good though. As usual, the device has a handful of low value apps that cannot be removed. I was able to remove the MS Office products, which other vendors don't allow (and which take up more storage space than ... While this is all pretty much par for the course, it is still pretty lousy for a company to treat its paying customers this way. I had hoped Lenovo would be better than this, but I'm not terribly surprised that they aren't. Overall, it is a good product for the price. It's certainly significantly better than the lower end options, by a pretty wide margin. Even with the artificial limitations that waste resources and reduce the value of the device, without helping anyone, it's worth the price.
