About this product

Product Information

William Holden and Glenn Ford star as a pair of rough and tumble drifters recently ejected from the vanquished Confederate Army. En route from Kansas to Texas by rail, the duo is in search of adventure and fortune. Upon arrival in Texas, the two friends fall on opposite sides of the law when they become involved in a cattle theft. Dan (Holden) leads a gang of rustlers in swindling rancher Dusty King, while Tod (Ford) helps King fend off the bad cowpokes. Worse still for the pair's friendship, they wind up as rivals for love--both woo the would-be victim's hot to trot daughter (Claire Trevor), but only one will ride off into the sunset with her. Packing a heart-warming friendship, a romance, a complex plot and several shoot 'em ups into just an hour and a half, TEXAS will find plenty of fans among those who appreciate the drama of the Old West.

Fresh-faced William Holden and Glenn Ford, two unemployed/down-on-their luck Confederates looking for work in Texas after the war get harassed by a corrupt Yankee judge, then quickly set him straight. Next, Holden--inexperienced in the ring--goes about 10,000 bare knuckle rounds in a rigged boxing match with the champ. Getting nowhere fast, they happen upon some thieves who have just robbed a stage coach--and they rob the robbers. The moral Ford intends to return the money to its rightful owners, while the more ethically challenged Holden would be happy to keep the money for himself. It doesn't matter because the Sheriff and his deputies believe they are the actual hold up men and give chase. This forces the men to split up and they end up on different sides of society--Holden with ...
