    Classic great performer

    A classic lens that still delivers great sharpness and the fastest aperture available in Pentax land. And is relatively compact too. Is is a bit "glowy" wide open but still surprisingly sharp (across most of the frame anyway). Definitely benefits from a good hood though.

    I purchased this lens for my pentax k-x and i have to say I love it and hate it. The problem is that when the light says im focused in my camera the pic doesnt look focused. Not sure if i need to ignore the beep that the pic is focused and just use my eye or listen to the camera! I would appriciate any help if anyone else has had this problem with manual focus lens. I have to say when u do hit the focus right, the pictures are tack sharp and some unbelievably clear!

    I would recommend this lens if available, get it!!

    This is a great lens, difficult to use because of the thin dof fully open. It takes time to learn to use it, just like any other f/1.2 manual or AF lens. Although it is a great representative of the Pentax, it does prduce somewhat sharpter and better picturs than the Cosina 55/1.2, even the POrst 55/1.2 sometimes. Well, most of the time. I had this lens and I sold it to get a Cosina, I have not looked backwards after that. The prices is subject to availability. Some people buy it to use it stopped down, why? Its best use is fully open. The Pentax FA50/1.4 is much versatile lens, even the F50/1.7 is more useful for day to day. By buying it, you only get bragging rights, not a better f/1.2 lens.     Highly valuable lens

    The lens is very sharp. It renders images with wonderful depth of field and nice blur. I love the images coming out from the lens and highly recommend this lens for portraiture.
