Made with a metal hybrid compound molded housing, these Denon headphones are made to last, and they are also made with comfort in mind. The Denon AH-D2000 over-the-head headphones have acoustic optimizer technology that improves the quality of the bass sound by adjusting the sound pressure. These Denon headphones have a frequency response range from 5 to 45000 Hz and an impedance level of 25 Ohms. Powered by a 50-mm driver, the Denon AH-D2000 over-the-head headphones are made to be comfortable for extended listening sessions for the user, while producing high-quality lows and clear mid-ranges, as well as booming bass sounds. Superior Sound
Fantastic sounding headphone. Slightly on the bass heavy side and a slight cut in the high mid frequency. These are no reference headphones but audiophile headphones. They really do sound incredible with a rounded body and deep punch. I use these for live sound where I tune PA systems and they work a treat.

Good Headphones, need a case or bag, plug pops out easy
The Good: Great headphones, that sound awesome and look nice. I tried the beats by dr dre and they sound good like denon but the beats are made of plastic for the headband and i will break that easily. Also I read numerous reviews on Denons and on Dre Beats and Beats are prone to breaking at the headband. Beats sound great when listening to hip hop but seem to over accentuate bass at other times. As for the Denons the sound Quality is good out of the box however I understand it will get better after a break period. I chose these headphones in part for their reputation of repeating sound as it was recorded, and not modifying the sound and it seems to be true thus far. At some point I plan to do the MarkI mod which will make them even better sounding. These Denon headphones ... The Good: Great headphones, that sound awesome and look nice. The ear cup is a good size and even large eared persons will still feel comfortable wearing these. They do a good job blocking out outside noise, and by turning the sound up a bit any outside noise is minimal if at all discernible. The build Quality is very good. They are made of durable aluminum for its main chassis, not breakable plastic, which is important to me because I am prone to finding the weak points in products. The ear pads are pleather but feel soft when wearing the phones. These are great headphones I plan to use for years and I would buy these again. One Minor Problem: I have been using them straight from my macbook and the plug seems to pop out just a bit, very easily, when the cable is moved at all. This causes the sound to stop coming through the phones and in turn the laptop speakers to urn on. I'm not shirr what the fix would be as my apple earbuds do not pop out in this way. The plugs look identical in shape and size on both the Denons and the earbuds. The only difference i see is the Denon plug is gold where as the earbud plug looks like chrome or something. The cable size is different. The Denons use a much larger wire gauge than the earbuds as expected, and the insulation is like a woven material. The popping out is a minor problem and the laptop is probably to blame.

A few closed-back models we've tested recently had next to no attenuation of outside noise, but while the D2000 is hardly in the 'sensory deprivation' league, it does (thanks to its close-fitting ear cups) cut out a good deal of peripheral interference. It's also comfortable to wear, with soft padding on both cups and a spring-forced headband that's nicely balanced between security and a vice-like grip. Well-made headphones Naturally, a major contributor to the sound of any headphone is its drive units and Denon has apparently used some form of microfibre composite for the membranes, with a voice coil driven by a neodymium magnet. Something called an 'Acoustic ... Like the D5000, the D2000 is a closed-back model, the main advantage being the degree of isolation from exterior sounds. The driver housings are usefully non-resonant, too. Lots of little touches complete what is a very upmarket-looking package. The cable is made of high-purity copper and is sheathed in a business-like braid, although the noise it makes when rubbing against clothing is a bit disconcerting. At the end of the cable is a 3.5mm jack plug, a top-quality metal item with a screw-in quarter-inch adapter. Satisfying sound quality Having just mentioned that warning note about coloration from closed-back cans, we are delighted to report that this model seems almost entirely free from any such effect. It is, in fact, one of the most neutral closed headphones we can recall: possibly the most neutral, standing comparison on tonal grounds with the best open-back models. The only slight blemish on its tonal character is a hint of shyness in the upper midrange and lower treble. So many transducers, especially loudspeakers, have something of a peak in that region and we thought (at first) that the D2000 was unusually honest, but careful listening to recordings of familiar sounds (including speaking voice, a very searching test of headphone tonality) confirmed that there is a small dip in the response.

I think for my review i'm just going to quote the manufacturers...because these Headphones are TRULY EVERYTHING that they say they are "The superior headphone housing used in the AH-D2000 to produce high quality sound is made of materials yielding exceptional acoustic characteristics ensuring faithful reproduction of the original sound. Compound metal is used to increase density, making the sound more stable and clear. Microfiber material has been used to form the diaphragm so that it faithfully reproduces the sonic details and delicate reverberations that occur in concert halls. The size of Microfiber is approx. 1/100 of natural cellulose used in ordinary diaphragms, and its density increases transmission rates. Optimum acoustic characteristics are achieved by adjusting the sound ... To provide a sonically clean performance, a balance of low to mid range frequencies is critical and dynamic clear bass is a must; the Acoustic Optimizer delivers both. High-quality cables made with 7N-OFC copper of equal lengths for the L/R channels are used to maintain optimum sound quality. A cloth mesh jacket is employed for cable protection and durability, and it is terminated with an aluminum covered connector plug for strength and performance. A light-weight magnesium frame has been used so that listeners can enjoy maximum comfort during extended listening sessions."

if you want a head phone for "fun" listening, look no further.
very nice head phones, but i would like to set a few things straight. First up, i notice a fair few of the other reviews have been calling these "cans" accurate or neutral. thats quite untrue. Truth be told, D2000s are actually quite a "coloured" set of head phones, tending towards the "warm" and "lush" side of the spectrum. That is not necessarily a bad thing as neutral and accurate gets tends to be very sterile and not overly enjoyable. these are a very "fun" set, one that will have you tapping your feet and bobbing your head. Second, while these can be driven straight from an ipod or laptop, they do benefit from amplification. even a cheep headphone amp will see the bass "tighten" (it tends to be a bit flabby if under driven) and thus have better detail across the Mids as the bass is ... very nice head phones, but i would like to set a few things straight. Sound leakage has also been said be a problem, that is to say people around you can bay be able to hear your music. I must say i havent noticed this issue, but i have Jmoney ear pads (see below) and listen at home where i dont need to crank them up to drown out other sounds. These cans can be further improved with a pair of Jmoney ear pads. google Jmoney to see what i mean. This improves insulation (less sound coming in) and sound leakage (less sound getting out) these also help tighten the slightly flabby bass and are AMAZINGLY comfortable. overall i am very happy with mine. its not super accurate or a studio monitor by a long stretch of the imagination (if you want that have a look at the AKG K701/2) but it isn't meant to be. For pure enjoyment at this price level, the D2000s are hard to beat at this $250 - $270 price mark.
