Powered Athearn F7 A&B chassis frame Powered and Dummy.
Is it durable, Yes, but like every thing else, it does require care and cleaning. The wheels need to be clamed, or the build up will block the electrical current. The motor mounting pads must be changed from time to time, or they get brittle and break. The gears need to be cleaned and greased from time to time. Do I recommend it. Yes if you a model railroader that likes that type engine. I use Athearn Blue Box engines for the most part, because they are easy to work on, and reliable. By changing out for newer parts can usually make them a little quitter. Is it entertaining? I think so.
