About this product

Product Information

Despite five centuries of investigation by historians, the sinister deaths of the boy king Edward V and his younger brother Richard, Duke of York, remain two of the most fascinating murder mysteries in English history. Did Richard III really kill "the Princes in the Tower," as is commonly believed, or was the murderer someone else entirely? Carefully examining every shred of contemporary evidence as well as dozens of modern accounts, Alison Weir reconstructs the entire chain of events leading to the double murder. We are witnesses to the rivalry, ambition, intrigue, and struggle for power that culminated in the imprisonment of the princes and the hushed-up murders that secured Richard's claim to the throne as Richard III. A masterpiece of historical research and a riveting story of conspiracy and deception, The Princes in the Tower at last provides a solution to this age-old puzzle.

  • Is 'Princes' worth the time??

Actually it probably is if you are into old world theories and analysis of evidence---sort of Medieval CSI stuff. It really gives a lot of detail into this period of history and tells of the many characters that are somehow linked or involved in the deaths of the young boys. It also tells of how someone that was appointed to protect his own blood most likely turned against thhe very young boys so he could fulfill his desire for greed. And it also tells of how the opeople reacted to such news that the princes had disappeared and how rulers of other countries turned their backs on the English ruler because of suspicion. It also tells of the Queen' of England's horror in discovering that she had delivered both her sons and rightful heirs to the throne to the man most likely responsible for ...

  • An excellent reconstructive rendering

Alison Weir makes history more like a "whodunit" mystery rather than some dry, old recitation of the facts. She gives historical figures a presence and makes this chapter of history regarding The Princes in the Tower come alive. Most enjoyable! Victoria Ent

  • The Princes in the Tower

I thought it would be a novel, story. Reads like a textbook. Started it and had to stop, even though I'm extremely interested in subject matter.
