I checked all manuals and it says that it was the part number, but it was 2 inches long. Cut and welded together and it's working great.

Did not fit my John Deere LX178 as stated.
This item was supposed to fit a JD LX178 however it was two inches to long. I was fortunate enough to have a chop saw and welder so I cut 2 inches out of the center of the rid and weld it back together. Also the threads were different than my original so I had to make a trip to the hardware store to purchase new ones . I was in desperate need to use the mower and did not have the time to wait a week or more to get the proper one.This item was supposed to fit a JD LX178 however it was two inches to long.
