Product Information

Though banned from the sport in Las Vegas due to misconduct, Mike Tyson lends his name and likeness to Codemasters' second boxing title featuring the former heavyweight champion. Four modes of play are initially offered, including Belt Mode, Speed Boxing, Exhibition Mode, and Two Player. Additional modes, boxers, equipment, combos, and signature punches can be earned by completing different challenges while in the ring. Belt Mode is structured in the same manner as a boxer's career, with players fighting opponents to win various championship belts. Defeating a boxer in Belt Mode unlocks him for play in the other modes. Speed Boxing has players going for the quickest knockout; if the opponent should hit the canvas within the predetermined time limit, players can unlock a series of upgrades for their boxers. Exhibition Mode has players boxing for cash against any of the available fighters, while Two Player functions as the game's multiplayer event. Players can also create their own boxers from the ground-up as they look to build a champion worthy of the Heavyweight World Circuit. Body type, tattoos, hairstyle, face, trunks, gloves, and more can be selected from a menu screen before moving on to the skills section. Here players can use money earned from Exhibition fights to purchase attributes in the areas of guard, stamina, fitness, chin, jab power, and more. Signature punches and combos from other boxers can also be acquired after defeating them. Along with Tyson, players can go toe-to-toe with Larry Holmes, Tim Witherspoon, Paolo Vidoz, David Tua, Frans Botha, Hasim Rahman, Kirk Johnson, Chris Byrd, Malik Scott, Audley Harrison, Oleg Maskaev, Danell Nicholson, Michael Grant, and Dominick Guinn. Each pro boxer's signature fighting style has been re-created for this 3D title.

I'm reviewing the game Mike Tyson Heavyweight for the PS2. The game was awful. I'm glad I got such a great deal on it, because I'd be more than upset if I had payed the full amout when it first came out. The game is very difficult to understand. Punches are not easy to throw, defense is awful to try and perform, and there is not real body movement, i.e. backwards or side to side. There are not levels to choose from, such as beginner or novice. The functions of the game are just very hard to play for a first timer. And please don't get knock to the canvas(which you will) to try and get up darn near gave me a cramp. The game is not at all beginner friendly. Decent boxing game for the price
I like how cheap it was and the create boxer feature, it has a lot of options. I also liked how most fights were over in the 1st round. As far as dislike, I would have to say, I disliked how easy it was to play and the lack of opponents. If you have played any kind of boxing games before then its real easy to beat. Its a good game for multiple players, specially if the players are little kids or non expert gamers. There are a lot of combinations and techniques, but button mashing seems to be pretty effective. I bought it because I wanted a boxing game for my playstation 2 and it was less than 10 bucks. Overall its a good game for the price and I'm satisfied with the purchase, enough to where I'm not looking at other boxing games for the playstation 2.I like how cheap it was and the create boxer feature, it has a lot of options. This is NO Mike Tyson's Puch-Out! The game play is slow, yes thats right for a boxing game this game is slow. The gameplay is bad also. The controls are easy enough to get down. I tossed this game across the room hoping for some excitement from it and that let me down to.
