Product Information

The D-Link DSS-8+ is a Dual-Speed 8-port 10/100Mb Ethernet/Fast Ethernet NWay auto-negotiating Switch. It is designed to eliminate unnecessary traffic, and relieve congestion by delivering dedicated bandwidth for each of the eight ports. Each port can connect to either an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet device. NWay auto-negotiation automatically determines the transmission speed of the attached device on each port.Designed at bringing switching to the desktop, the DSS-8+ delivers high speed switching capabilities at the lowest cost per port in the industry. The DSS-8+ provides dynamic buffer allocation that employs network-load balancing for faster data handling. The uplink interface connection enables easy expansion. The DSS-8+ uses fast store and forward architecture to ensure low latency and high data integrity. Supports MII interface for flexible media connection and expansion capabilities.

    Great basic network switch. It works great!

    I bought it used for dirt cheap because it came without power adapter. needless to say out of the 50 power adapters i have accumulated none was the right voltage, 7.5 V. However a 6V adapter worked just fine and in the meantime I found a 7.5 volt adapter for cheap! So i am happy.

    Does what it does, well

    I bought this to extend my wired connection to my desk with a few computer, since my router is sitting by my tv. Use what ever Cat5 ethernet cable you have handy to hook this up to a computer, printer, tivo, xbox 360, router, etc. Absolutely love it and i don't have any complaints, it even has slots to mount it under a desk, or on a wall. Personally i like under the desk as it's out of the way, and my desk is clear of random wires. All and all a wonderful product.
