Pentax Prime Lens
This is my first prime (non-zoom) lens for the Pentax K20D digital camera. I also have a 17-70 zoom lens. Since receiving the 43mm prime lens I haven't used my zoom. There are two outstanding things about this lens that make it my favourite. One is that it is fast. With the F1.9 aperture I can use it for indoor shots, sports or many of the other places that the F4.0 zoom lens just couldn't handle. At those wide apertures, the ability to be creative with bokeh (out-of-focus blur) is great. The other reason I enjoy this lens so much is that that it is small and light. I didn't realize how heavy the zoom was until I replaced it with this prime lens. I'll still use the zoom, as it will give me wide angle to telephoto ranges, but for a day to day carry around lens and for ... If you shoot Pentax dslr, and can afford it, get this lens ;-)
I bought this lens primarily for its renowned image quality. Second came the size, as I am interested in having small kit for travelling. It has exceeded my expectations on both counts. The focal length is great for me as I tend to like either wide or zooms better than normal lenses and this comes in slightly zoomed at app. 65 mm on my k-5. The build quality is very good, with threading being near perfect (being a machinist by trade I know how that's supposed to be)smooth. Build - and image qualitywise this lens is highly recommended. Only negative in my opinion is the prize, not because the lens isn't worth it, I just think it's expensive for a hobbyist such as myself. However this lens is likely to have a high resale value as well, unlike your camerabody for instance, which in turn ... I bought this lens primarily for its renowned image quality. An original standard lens, but sharp and stylish.
This sexy metallic lens, reminding of the first manufactured photographic lens assembly in Europe,is the most beautiful standard full frame lens with original settings and stylish presentation.
