    Primarily a Master Gardening Book

    Very little helpful homesteading content. An easy and good read regarding gardening, choosing crops and food preservation. I think including “independent homesteader” in the title is VERY misleading. Hiring road builders, well drillers and utilizing conventional construction methods is far from “independent” in my opinion. Very little content about repurposing materials which is sorta Homesteading 101. The sparse pictorial content includes new components and commercially available engineered systems to capture and retain the energy gleaned from the high end wind turbine and solar array. I’m sure Ron and Johanna Melchior are fine people and I would never suggest they are “ripping off” the buyers of their book about their antidotal accounts of ditching the 9 to 5 rat race beginning in the ...

    Just what I was looking for!

    I want to be more self-sufficient and independent, grow my own food and not be dependent on the electric grid. I'll have to get into it more but the book appears well organized and covers the essentials in considerable detail. Many illustrations. Not a small book. I am impressed and recommend it.
