    discount-machine is the in-house outlet for SHARS. It sells their seconds. The item I received was new, but it had some cosmetic flaws that do not affect it's usage and it came in a distressed box that that had the original labels torn off and other labels covering the remnants that didn't get removed. If I were to redo the purchase, I would probably buy the tool from the SHARS retail at full price as the discount from the outlet is minimal. Otherwise, it was a good transaction.

    Straight, accurate, much easier than any other manual tapping system

    I purchased this tap alignment tool to put some screw holes in my lathe. It worked exceptionally well. The design clamps down to a fairly small tap (the smallest I used was an M3, you might get to an M2 but any smaller would require a bushing). For a vast majority of work, this size will work great. Also, if you are doing tapping in difficult materials, the CNC cookbook has a great explanation on the correct drill size to use.

    Chinese junk, loose thread fit. No clean after machining.

    Had to work it left and right to remove the tap from the threaded sleeve. There were either chips to galled threads. Both the internal and external threads were slightly galled. Even when with full thread engagement, the thread fit is very loose. Would not recommend.

    Tap Guide

    At any price a tap guide is an invaluable tool, but to get one of this caliber it is outstanding, with an outstanding price to match! The quality and versatility are second to none. If you are needing to add a tap guide to your tool box, please consider this high quality tool. I have other Shars Tools in my toolbox so when I bought this tool I knew it would be of the highest quality, no surprise for me.

    Good value for a decent tool

    I bought this tap holder to use with a 1/2" tap. It's tight but fits in the holder. Has a smaller holder for smaller shank taps. I tapped about fifteen 1/2" diameter holes. Works good. Better than trying to tap without a holder to stay level. Seems to be good quality. Foreign made. Good price for sure.
