    The Pilgrims

    I enjoyed this version of the famous trial of one of the early European settlers in what they called the "New World". I would also recommend the A&E production titled "The Mayflower" for a little bit different take of that early adventure. And, as long as I'm on the subject, I also recommend Charles C. Mann's two books "1491" and "1493" as well as Nathaniel Philbrick's book "Mayflower". The movies focus on the actual experience of the Pilgrims (and the "strangers" that were half of the group) while the books give a more rounded idea of what happened before and after the arrival of the Mayflower which is important to put the experience into context.

    Many people grew up in the 1950's believing that Thanksgiving was a tremendous feast that brought the Native Americans and people from England together in peace and harmony but it was quite the contrary. So much sadness,sickness and death, ..... I now appreciate the truth and this blessed holiday
