This is the actual front panel unit for FT 857, brand new. You can have your font panel display stripes repaired instead, but at the time this brand new unit was a few dollars more so I went with that. Since then, the price has skyrocketed, so you may want to consider just having the unit repaired. I am keeping my old head unit for possible repairs as a back up, as these are known to stripe after a couple years.

It took no time at all to receive this replacement head. It works fine on FT 857 and also the FT957D.It`s of course a little expensive but the more people buy I notice the price is dropping. It`s the best alternative to buying a new radio. It is a genuine part and it makes your radio feel like new again. I purchased this as a spare head for my older first issue 857 and I have had no issues at all using it over the last few months. I don`t want to repeat other people reviews but my addition is to say it works fine with no issues with the older *%& and I have a very early edition.

The price is a little high, but they are gouging on the web for a rebuild screen from Pixel issues, then you still have worn knobs. They also look at cost of a new radio, so considering all that it's the best option.

In my opinion, the best mobile, portable "shack in the box" radio ever made. It's such a shame Yaesu quit manufacturing them!
