Great family film and an outstanding Blu-Ray quality product.
While I have not watched the DVD, I did watch the Blu-Ray disc and it was absolutely the best I have ever seen this movie. The pictures were stunning, the scenery over Germany was breathtaking, the audio was also outstanding. The actual movie is typical of a 60's family musical. The Sherman brothers wrote the music, they also wrote the music for Mary Poppins, The Aristocats, and The Jungle Book. It was based on the book by Ian Fleming (author of James Bond). Seems like they tried to make a film on the level of Mary Poppins, which I don't think it quite achieved, but I do think it stands well on it's own. It is probably the best "Disney wanna be" film I've seen. I remember watching it as a kid when it came out, and last night showed it to my teenage ... Good family movie
There is a bit of nostalgia in this movie, a bit of humor, and a bit of adventure. If you like dogs, candy, toys, old cars, the three stooges style humor, and adventure this will make you smile. Not to mention Dick Van Dyke is awesome in this movie. Even if you're just a fan of him it's good! Had the VHS of this movie since childhood, just upgraded to blu-ray! :-D
