    Nice unit

Previously had a Fitbit Flex. Liked the form factor but feature set was scant. The Vivosmart HR is a different animal. Syncs every time without a hitch. Tracks a ton of features; messages, emails, heart, sleep, steps, stairs, weather etc. You have to use two apps, the Garmin Connect app and the Under Armor My Fitness Pal app to input food and other data. I've seen improvement in just a few weeks from having the new regimen of tracking calories and food. If you commit to the program it can help you make better decisions, likely permanently and for the good. My only qualm is the form factor. It's a pretty big band, but I guess it needs to be to enable all the features to be read. I do like that it's not a bigger traditional square watch/wart on my wrist. Now what do I do with the other 11 ...

    PROS AND CONS

I had a Fitbit Charge HR that died two months after the one year warranty expired. I decided to try the Garmin Vivosmart HR+. It has nice features like waterproof, and a larger face. But, it is difficult to connect to its cable for charging and more difficult to disconnect. And, the alarm/notification vibration is so weak that I often do not feel it. It would be nice if the intensity of the vibration could be increased, but Garmin said that is not possible. I had difficulty paring it to my smartphone and I called Garmin and the help I got was great.

  • Good product at a great price

I wanted it for heart rate measurement and it does that plus more. It has a good enough battery to last 5 days and has some other features that are a plus (see specs). Only downsides are that the readout font is small for older folks (mainly the messages page although the clock and heart rate readouts in portrait mode are fine), and the software it version it comes with is buggy having disconnection and data syncing problems (have to sync with pc using Garmin express to update to version 4.3 to get rid of these issues. Wouldn't update with Garmin connect on cell phone)

  • Good activity tracker with so so HRM

I had been trying a Microsoft Band 2 and was loving it but the MS Band was showing a lot of wear after just a week. Also that sucker is heavy and sometimes hurt after wearing it for a couple of days straight. The HRM on the Band 2 was not terribly accurate either, showing my HR to be about 20 to 50 bpm less than a Scoshe Rhythm+ and a Polar chest strap I was using for comparison (The Rhythm and Polar were about the same within a couple of bpm). Deciding to dumb it down and get an activity tracker w/ HRM that I would use for average HR only, I got this one. It's much more comfortable than the MS Band 2, significantly lighter and just as functional. I do miss the full amoled color screen of the band 2 but have not had any pain or chafing wearing this band (now for almost 3 weeks straight) ...

  • Great little device

Bought this device to replace my Apple Watch, and allow me to wear my existing collection of mechanical watches. The form factor is very different from the Apple Watch, with the HR device protruding from the backside of the band, rather than a flush sensor. This leads to occasional discomfort when using a keyboard all day, but really a nit-picky preference. The band could be a little thinner--I was debating between this device and the Fitbit Alta HR, as it is on my dominant wrist, and does look a little large opposite the watch on my left wrist. Very nice to have the sleep tracking information databased in the Garmin Connect app on my phone, so I can try and approximate how the day may go. Overall, I ultimately decided on this device vs the Fitbit based on existing devices in the ...
