There Are Better Septuagint Editions
I researched the Septuagint for a long time and I only ordered this version because I got a really good price and free shipping from the vendor. Pros: It is a beautiful, well-made and bound hardback book. I give it one star for this. Cons: What a waste of money! Overall it has been a real disappointment. The paper is thin but slightly better than the Lexham English Septuagint. The glowing reviews here or elsewhere seem to be coming from people who are not seasoned Christians with decades of experience in Bible study and Bible manuscript history. This edition of the Septuagint, if you want to call it a "Septuagint" edition, is not for daily study but is more of an academic college textbook for advanced study by graduate students who desire to specialize in Old Testament manuscripts and ... There are missing verses which are found in other Septuagint editions. The NETS also uses words which are confusing based on present English grammar. The NETS is not for a sincere Bible student who wants to know more about the Bible that Jesus and His disciples quoted from the most, as opposed to the corrupt Old Testament Masoretic Text which most English Bibles are based on. The Jewish Masoretes hated Jesus, His disciples and His message. The editors state that it is based partly on the NRSV. Why have they committed this sacrilege which automatically corrupts what they have tried to do? Why didn't they base it on the oldest available Septuagint manuscript, the Codexes Alexandrinus, Sinaiticus and Vaticanus? And why did they change the spelling of the O.T. books and proper names to Old English? Very confusing! The NRSV and virtually all other Bible translations since the 1611 KJV have serious problems, especially after the Westcott-Hort 1881 butchery of the KJV by those two Satanists and occultists. If you want a good "vanilla" Septuagint for daily study, purchase the original Charles Thomson Septuagint (1808), the C. L. Brenton Septuagint (1851), the Paul Esposito Apostles' Bible (2002-2004) or The Researcher's Library of Ancient Texts Volume III - The Septuagint (2013).
