I should start this review by noting that I'm a Megaman fan, so I have a bit of a bias. If you are still interested then here's why I bought the game: because I'm a collector, and this was the only GameBoy Megaman I did not have. Should YOU buy this game? Well that depends. Are you a Megaman fan? If so, sure, this is right up your alley. If not, then you could, but know that there are better Megaman games out there. For those who somehow don't know what a Megaman game is like, well it's the paradigmatic old school platforming shooter. The objective is to run and jump through levels while blasting enemies (who will drop recharges for you and your extra weapons and extra lives) until reaching the boss. And the best thing about Megaman is the bosses. Once defeated you will get their weapons and each boss is vulnerable to the weapon of another. This is why you are allowed to decide in which order to fight them (and I love figuring the out the proper order). The bosses of this game, as in all GameBoy ones except the fifth and last game, are taken from two NES games, specifically Megaman 3 and 4. The level layouts however are completely new, so that still makes it worth your while. Also, like the others, it features an all new Megaman Hunter boss, with its own new weapon. Megaman can also count on items from the NES games, specifically E-Tanks to recharge your energy at any time and Rush, his dog, that can turn into a coil to allow higher jumps or a jet to fly horizontally thought levels. Megaman can also charge up his main weapon and slide, things he couldn't do in the previous GameBoy games. The graphics are taken directly from the NES games and are very good although they make the small screen a little crowded. Sound is very well done too, with great music (a huge improvement over the second GameBoy game). The plot is nothing new. Dr Wily is trying to take over the world (this time by stealing geothermal energy from under the seabed) and Megaman must stop him. Could have used some more work. This is the most standard of Megaman games. Everything is done well, but nothing really stands out (when comparing it to others in the series). That still makes it an above average GameBoy game, but like I said, there are better games in the same series, like its direct sequels Megaman 4 and 5 on GameBoy. Finding this game on eBay isn't that easy either. I could only find the cartridge and had to buy the manual separately. But you don't really need the manual or the (rather ugly) box, which I don't have. Unless you're a collector and want to read the story and see the artworks, of course. So again, if you are a Megaman fan and already have all the best games in the series, this is definitely worth playing. Otherwise, if you just want to get a Megaman game, I'd suggest either the two GameBoy sequels or some of the NES games (or even the SNES one, Megaman 7). Or you could look into the Megaman X games (just... don't start with X6 or X7, you'd get the wrong impression).Read full review
I bought a game boy game called Mega man 3 used and was a game I was looking for. This game is a must for anyone who loves the classic Mega Man franchise. This game is retro and is only played on game boy gear, game boy color, game boy pocket, game boy advance, game boy sp and maybe the game boy micro not so sure. I haven't played the game yet because I don't have a game boy but soon I will :) All I know is it has 8 robot bosses with every one of them has their own stage. After you defeat each one of them, you obtain their weapons and can be a weakness to some of the other robots. Then the final boss is Dr. Willy the evil scientist who built all the 8 robots and from their on you're on your own. Overall this game is hard to find but is enjoyable to play with patience.

I love Mega Man Games!!!!! I going to try to own all five Mega Man Game Boy Games. I'm a huge Mega Man Fan!!!!! This i would reconmend to all who love Fighting/Adventure Games.
This gameboy series hits its stride big time with part three. Less frustrating level design than the first, and unbelievably improved music over the second.
I truly love this great game a neat combination of MegaMan 3 and MegaMan 4 with robot masters from both games.
