First the Bad: I bought this unit as a backup for my RS-35M (with meters) I'm a little disappointed that there is a slight hum when powered on, probably an electrolytic Cap, I hope it's not the transformer, that would make it a 20 lb paperweight. A great price is not always a great deal. The Good: This power supply can run everything I have; 850 Kenwood (10-160M), 2000 Kenwood (2M/440), 1-2 mobiles and a Icom IC-R75 Receiver, plus a uniden BCD996XT Scanner all at the same time! of course I'm only transmitting on one of them at a time. The hum is not that noticeable unless there is no other noise in the room at the time.

Astron RS-35A not tested there, however I was needing a transformer. Turned out to be better than the power supply I was attempting to repair. UPS handled the shipping, great job and whoever packed it did just right. Of course, it needed a power cord and it checked out in great shape. Full current, {35Amps), was checked and with 50% duty cycle, barely made heat specs. However, at 25Amps it ran constantly for 30 minutes with heat sink normal warmth. So I would recommend it for parts and repair.

This Astron is a great power supply, and according to reviews I have read all over the Internet, they will run and run for years with no problem. That's been my experience with this one. Just turn it on and forget about it.

This is a great linear power supply for ham radio use. It is quiet as a mouse and super clean output for all your ham radios that require a power supply to work indoors. I highly recommend this product vs any switching supply!
