In Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol, gamers can work their way from tryouts to the finals based on the hit television show in an effort to earn a compliment from Simon Cowell himself. Beginning as just one in the crowd, gamers must select a character or add their image into the game with EyeToy camera, and then prove their vocal prowess in a series of competitions featuring 40 classic and contemporary songs. Stage presence is also judged and gamers can unlock additional clothing and accessories to create a crowd-pleasing couture costume. After each performance, judges offer verbal feedback and give players a score.<br><br>If successful, gamers will advance to the next level. However, a bad singing session will launch the digital version of Simon into a tirade full of uplifting and helpful comments including "That sort of singing should be illegal." While working through the game, players can unlock such content as clips from the show including performances by Clay Aiken. Gamers may sing alone or compete with friends in head-to-head or team games, and Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol also features classic Karaoke Revolution modes of play including "Duets," "KR Challenge," "Medley," and "Quickplay."

Songs on the Game It's Good but could have Been Better
We have all the Karaoke Revolutions and this was is Just as Fun. Simon & Randy are there, but Paula is replaced by Laura? I think because Paula Abduls Straight Up is one of the songs, and she's probably already going to get royalties from it, is the only conclusion I could come up with. One thing they could have made better was the song selections, a lot of them are older, some even before my time, but the game was bought mostly for my 11 year old, and unfortunately she doesn't know 75% of the songs (25% I don't know either), so because of that I'm giving this a Good instead of Excellent. The Judging and Critiques are pretty funny though, and there are also video clips of singers on American Idol when you unlock them by getting Platinum and Diamonds Well On to the songs.... All My ... I've never seen my mom laugh sooo hard....
She can't carry a tune in a bucket, but the judging level set to easy was even forgiving of her if she could get some singing in between the giggles, but the expert level will really give the more musically inclined a challenge. Even if you have shy friends, if you like singing this will keep you busy for hours even by yourself. The software is eerily accurate in its judgement of quality, seeming to notice if I am putting energy into the performance or not even if my notes are on pitch. I think this will even be a great practice tool for those trying to improve. I was also able to make a character that looks quite a bit like me even without the "Eye toy" feature the game really seems to be the next best thing to being on the show. I feel a real accomplishment if I can get a good ... That all being said, I will note that I have not tried the other KR games, and the sequel to this title was actually my introduction to the series, but I like this first installment better than "Encore" mostly because of the song choices. It would seem that gameplay is pretty identical, so if you're trying to choose between the two, am not a karaoke fiend I would suggest buying whichever title carries the most song titles you like. I have just been having TOO much fun!

I'm not a kid anymore but at what age does one really stop enjoying karaoke??? Never! This is a great mix of karaoke and a love of the hit show American Idol. If you buy the bundle then you'll also get the mico that hooks into the usb port on the front of your PS2. I cannot tell you just how much fund this game is. You can create your own character who looks like you or use one that is already created. Once you do that, you can play in quick mode, practice, or start the american idol contest. It starts out in the audition room just like on the show and you are in front of simon, randy, and some other lady. I'm not sure if it is suppose to be paula but it honestly doesn't look or sound like her at all. I'm not sure why this is. Simon sounds and looks JUST LIKE HIS REAL SELF..same ... THIS IS THE PERFECT GAME A "10" FOR EVERYONE
These games have it all, from great music, to awesome graphics & characters this game is tons of fun , Karaoke Revolution has it for all different age groups, you will never get board , they should come out with a new one every month, the music is great from classics California Dreaming to Sitting on the Dock of the Bay to new songs like Black Hole Sun, & Drive, they try to cover every possible age group, I have all of them except for the country one , and I will be getting that even though I am not a big country song fan , being that I was raised in south gate California greater L.A. area my whole life, and never sung music too much I got into these fast, I noticed that when we play even the toddlers want to get involved as for the teenage group they try to act to cool to play with ...
