Great Player, Ease of Use and Great Savings over a New Model..!
I originally bought a brand new Samsung Blu-ray player but it didn't have an Digital Optical Output for audio, so I found this barely used older model here on ebay at 2/3 the price of a new one. I have been enjoying it's ease of use, fairly quick loading of disc and the way the on screen display of current point in the disc looks like when in Pause Mode. The Up-Converting ability makes the our older format of DVD's look really good on this Blu-ray player. The only issues I've had with my particular player was one rented disc didn't even load, never mind play. The disc was in very good condition with no scratches, etc. But again, you can buy a brand new disc from the store, go home and it won't play. This is really inherent of using any digital disc, since they don't play on all players ... Hope this review helps anyone thinking of saving a few bucks on an older Samsung Blu-ray player and/or looking for a good player with a Digital Optical Output. Enjoy!

The GOOD: Fantastic picture and sleek design, I've heard of people complaning about slow booting and pauses on standard DVDs....didn't happen. Boot time was noticable but not annoying. Relatively inexpensive compared with other standalone units. Image quality is outstanding on 1080i but that's all I can provide a review for. Supports onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and bit stream output for all high-resolution audio formats and the Ethernet port for firmware updates is very easy to get too. Also supports 2.0 and onboard DTS-HD Master Audio decoding. Sleak design and multipurpose remote. Overall: Highly recommended. The BAD: Included a useless audio cable, could have been a HMDI. Samsung 1500 Blu-Ray player
I was a little worried upon receiving my NEW IN THE BOX blu-ray purchased thru E-Bay. For one thing the "original" box showed some pretty substantial damage to one of the corners of the box. The picture that was shown during the auction did not show the damage. The player itself has worked flawlessly. We love having a blu-ray player joining forces with our new Samsung LCD TV and hope to enjoy it for years to come. I decided to buy it thru ebay because not only a neighbor had done the same thing and received a good product but also because the price. My product was easily $40 to $60 cheaper than buying it from an online retailer or from a Box store. Over all I a very happy with this product and would recommend consumers to do there HOMEWORK before purchasing bigger ticket items such ... Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player
I bought this blu-ray dvd player because I have also have one of the bid Samsung HD LCD tv's and wanted to be able to use only ONE remote control for both. So far, I have been GROSSLY disappointed in this player. First, it has a loading delay that's VERY annoying. Secondly, and even worse yet, it was built without any kind of cooling fan. After watching 2 movies, I happen just to walk by and turned it off by hand instead of by the remote. Imagine my surprise when I could feel the heat radiating off the player. I bent down and touched it...picked up the front a tad and the botton of the player actually burned almost a blister on my finger. It worries me that this player gets this hot. I'm actually concerned it could be a fire hazard. I'm trying to think of a safe, fire proof way to ... Lately, after a TERRIBLE ordeal with Samsung Customer Service to get resolution on an manufacturing defect in my big screen HD LCD TV (diagnosed by a Samsung Certified Technician here in my home sent by Samsung), in which I had to make over 25 calls to Samsung Customer Service, plus over 10 to Executive Case management, I'm not sure I'll ever buy anything electronic by Samsung again. Samsung returned only ONE phone call in over a year while I tried to get resolution for the tv. I can't even begin to tell how many times I heard "you'll hear back from us in 3-5 business days", never once was those words honored. To make all this worse, I ended up having to shell out $375 out of MY pocket to get the manufacturing defective tv exchanged. How's that for totally CRAPPY customer service. I strongly suggest anyone considering purchasing anything electronic from Samsung to do some research with Consumer Reports before purchasing anything really expensive. Two days again, Verizon Wireless ended up having to trade my daughters Samsung Glyde touchscreen cell phone for an LG touch screen model. My daughter was on her THIRD Samsung Glyde because the touchscreens would stop functioning rendering the phone virtually UNUSEABLE PERIOD. When asked, Verizon Tech Support told me they had been replacing these phones left and right because of this defective touch screen issue. WATCH OUT AND DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANYTHING ELECTRONIC FROM SAMSUNG...Their customer service and caring attitude toward customers who spend thousands with their company simply is the WORST I've ever experienced from any company manufacturing electronics. BEWARE!!!!!
