The re-used, homemade box was crushed due to lack of sufficient paper packing; however the fragile item was sealed between two collapsed cardboard boxes, which protected it and allowed it to be delivered safely. Inside-the-box packing is crucial to keep the post office from crushing the box and breaking the contents; tape all around in multiple layers does not keep the box from getting crushed; the cost of mailing should include a sturdy--not re-used-box!
