I have no idea how it got such good reviews
Once I realized how bad this movie was, I felt I should see it through to the end just in case it got better... it did not. Every stereotypical horror movie scene was in there... "No don't go in there" or the actor/actress frozen in fear, let's not forget the S-L-O-W walk through a scene with creepy sounds in your headphones. So few actors had a Flight instinct, none had a Fight reaction. OK, so maybe you can't kick a ghost or whack them with a chair, but at least if someone had done that, a CGI artist (there was no CG in it other than some mirror effects) could have made the chair swish through the vaporous apparition. Buy JU On 2? not me. PS, I always turn on subtitles to "hear" whispering or distant voices in the audio. In this movie the subtitles must have been from someone in ... differences between versions
Well, I have now a complete collection of both Ju-On and The Grudge. Here is what I found out. Ju-On shows how the "ghost lady" dies and becomes what she is, the stories are quite similar to The Grudge, but its a combination of both Grudge 1 and 2. However, Grudge 2 shows a victem reliving the death in detail, that was a good plus. But, I have something that has never been shown to the US on the Silver Screen. That's Ju-On 2 when the "ghost lady" is reborn. Much more scary than the first. If you never seen it, try it out. Ju-On 2.Well, I have now a complete collection of both Ju-On and The Grudge. A Japanese masterpiece Ju-on The Grudge
The Plot to the movie is this; It is said in Japan that when someone dies in extreme sorrow or rage, the emotion remains and can leave a stain upon that place. Death becomes a part of that place, killing everything it touches. Ju-on; The Grudge is the original Japanese film version released in 2003 and written and directed by Takashi Shimizu. I like this version alot more than the American remake titled; The Grudge, which was released the very next year in 2004 starring, Sarah Michelle Geller. When I compare the two films I find that the Japanese version depends mostly on the skills of the actors and actresses to carry the film which I feel they did extremely well, the film also has its own special affects to provide the right atmosphere to add more suspense, and in the American film its ... I love the original Japanese horror films that many popular American films were based off of and Ju-On is no different. It's great and unnerving. Unlike newer horror films, they focused more on the environment and the immersion than on cheap gore and kills.

The smooth flow of the music themes throughout every scene in this movie, brings a creepy ambiance throughout. It gives you both a sense of mystery and anticipation..which is "BRILLIANT"!!! This strategy keeps the audience attentive and focused into the movie, which every horror movie strives to do but rarely pulls it off (especially nowadays).
