About this product

Product Information

Sega's signature tennis series appears for the first time on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with Virtua Tennis 3. As in previous versions, players are free to create a male or female athlete and build his or her attributes through an event-filled career. The goal is to gradually improve your character's ranking by competing in sanctioned tournaments held across the globe. In between tournaments, players can participate in skill-oriented mini-games or train at a tennis academy. The mini-games in particular are just as wacky as in earlier titles, with players attempting to outwit aliens, alligators, and more by hitting targets as quickly and as accurately as possible.<br><br>Featured play modes include World Tour, Tournament, Exhibition, and Court Games, where up to four players can compete in their choice of doubles, mixed doubles, or singles play. Twenty professional tennis stars are available to play as or against, including such notables as Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova, Amélie Mauresmo, and Roger Federer. Characters will compete in a variety of international venues, with clay, grass, hard court, and carpet surfaces all influencing shots in realistic ways. Online support is included for the Xbox 360 version, while the PS3 game uses the Sixaxis controller's tilt function for both movement and swings.

Item shipped promptly and arrived well packaged. Seller did not detail the water damage to the label but it was also on me for not noticing in the images. Otherwise good experience.

Serious value. THE definitive choice for newbies or pros.

Easy for ANYONE to pickup and play. Very intuitive controls that are also tight and responsive. It's not PERFECT though. Sometimes you go to the net to do a volley and you want to hit it HARD but your flat (non-spin, non-slice option) disappoints and the power just isn't there. I believe this to be not an error in the game, but a deficit in that particular player's ability. When you go to pick your player it says what area each player excels at (hard serve, fast runner, etc), so I guess you just have to choose a player that has the specific talent you want the most of. As a former tennis player, this game just checks all the right boxes, and the sounds of the shots are both accurate and satisfying, ESPECIALLY the overhead smash.

  • Just like Virtua Tennis 2 **VERY FUN**

It has taken a long time for Sega to come through on this for me. Was it worth it? Hell yeah. As a huge fan of the Virtua Tennis series on the Sega Dreamcast, I was delighted to see them bring back their amazing sports game to the Xbox 360. Virtua Tennis has always been about plain and simple fun, whether with friends or all by your lonely self in your basement. This newest sequel is just that, and a little more thanks to some amazing visuals and some cool online features. Virtua Tennis 1 and 2 had a very easy pick up and play gameplay and this is certainly the case for the VT3. Controlling your players and accuracy of hitting the ball is very precise but extremely easy to use meaning anybody could pick this up and be an expert at it in no time. Using either the D pad or Analog stick and ...

  • Virtua Tennis 3 Good...not Great @ $60

This review is brought to you by http://gnadegames.blogspot.com Virtua Tennis 3 is just shy of being a great title. It is very approachable and a lot of fun, but there are some misses that really get under you skin and detract from the experience…most aren’t even gameplay related, but they still detract from what could be a AAA title. Gameplay: 9/10 Pros: The ‘tennis’ games are fast and furious and are simple to play, but deep to master. If you get bored of matches there are a TON of challenging and deep minigames. Stay away from Fusion Frenzy 2 and let Virtua Tennis satisfy your minigame craving. Cons: In world tour mode, you play the same pros over and over again. Before you reach rank 200, they are awful…Federer can’t even get to a ball and hits it right back to you! He’s #1 in ...

  • Fun Game - Entertaining

From a graphics standpoint, there's very little discernable difference in quality between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Virtua Tennis 3; the environments are all richly detailed and lit (we're thinking particularly of the gorgeous Barcelona Open court we played, bathing in the warm orange glow of the Spanish sun). Little touches in the background, such as the judges moving their heads to avoid balls hit their way, were a nice treat, as well. In the end, the difference between the two versions of Virtua Tennis 3 might come down to their online components. While the Xbox 360 is sure to have a full slate of achievements to unlock.

  • Best tennis game I've ever played! Endless value for the money!

I bought Virtua Tennis 3 for 2 reasons. For one the price, only $3.99. It's $5.31 at the nearest GameStop and almost 30 miles from where I live. It would have cost me at least $15.00 just to get it from GameStop. So that's a pure steal. The other reason I bought it is because I read that a lot of people had more fun with it than other similar Xbox 360 games. They definitely were right. What I like most about it is tough to determine. I guess because there's so much I like about it. The sound maybe is my favorite or maybe it's arcade feel. It has so many tennis players I'm familiar with and they're so much like the real players. I like how the campaign mode is as well. It's pretty basic yet it nails like every aspect smoothly. Everything about this game keeps you hooked. There's not ...
