The 640 seems to be a nice place to stop between the 521 and the 900's. It's big, but not too big and has many, many options for slim but solid protective cases, which I usually apply immediately. It can take plenty of memory on an SD card. The battery lasts the whole day if I use the phone a lot, and several-to-many days if I don't. It's brighter than the 521, better sound, more speakers. It has the usual Windows Phone issues, but so do the higher end, newer models, and it seems to have fewer bugs. Didn't like it with Windows 10, downgraded back to 8.1. Maybe Win10 when it's all polished and fixed... or maybe not. Decent camera, though for some reason, this model doesn't have the camera button on the outside, which is disappointing, but it does have many built-in fun things for photography. My phone was originally meant to be an AT&T GoPhone, with bloatware included. It's hard to get rid of the bloatware, since it keeps sending upgrades to applications I've already deleted, but since this doesn't affect the battery life the way it did in my 920, I just ignore it between occasional mass deletions. I like how it hooks up with my computer and talks to my iphone-- had trouble doing that both with my 521 and 920. Despite these and a few other annoying things mostly to do with Windows Phone, I like this phone, and have given it as gifts to family, as well.Read full review

I'm having a hard time learning some of the features even though I have Windows 10 in my PC. I wish there were a place to go that knows all the answers instead of sending me to the internet every time I have a question to read a lot of people answers that are all different. I really would love to learn how to simple send an attachment (photo) with a text without going through Facebook. I may want to sent a photo to someone who is not a Facebook friend. It's complicated to get all my old photos that are on my computer onto my phone also. I'm hopeful that I will soon learn to do these things that I found simple to do on other phones I've had in the past. Otherwise the phone is impressive and I know it's capable of doing a lot of things.

Once you unlock the phone, you must contact MetroPCS to let them know the IMEI number of this phone. The number is on the bottom of the packaging. It's the digits under the middle barcode. Then and only then will this phone work on the Metro network. They may also need the numbers from the SIM you are putting in. Also, I recommend a quality micro SD card, as generic cheap ones are prone to failure. The phone works great and it communicates seamlessly with my Windows 10 laptop. :-) The driving app & Mix Radio apps {which use no data} are worth the price alone. I recommend this phone for those people like me that just HAVE to have a windows phone!

A good compromise between price, performance, and long working on the battery. You know that nothing is perfect . But this phone deserves attention. I bought it first himself and then my wife and now for $ 29.99 bought two on the shelf . I do not have to worry about the screen or get wet. I'm not a slave to the iPhone ( last 4 years I was ) I installed a Micro SD Card 64 GB for $ 16 (max 128) and now I don't have problem with the data archive . When sd memory card is full I buying another memory card . Full Backup and no clouds out there somewhere who knows where . I'm sorry for the mistakes English is not my native language.

Best $59 I ever spent...... I use it with At&t regular sharing service with my wife. She has one with ALL the bells and whistles and this one is just as good. I would like a little better battery life but you can't have everything at less than $500. Get one, you WILL like it....

Once you get past the process of unlocking the phone (which isn't too difficult) the phone is ready to be used. I had to do several updates, as the phone comes with the older windows 8.1 mobile. After the updates, the phone runs on windows 10 mobile. I was really impressed with the fluidity of the whole experience. The phone's interface resembles my windows computer so the learning curve was not as steep as I thought it would be. For the price I could recommend the product. The unlocking and update process is a bit challenging if you're a complete novice at smartphones, but its worth the minor headache.

This phone is an excellent value for the price, I bought this as an upgrade from my Nokia Lumia 635 and must say that this device is a major step up from the 635 and runs very smooth thanks to the 1 GB of RAM this little guy packs, The screen isn't exactly what you'd find on a Flagship.. But... at 720P and 5" of screen space it is surprisingly very clear and vibrant. You'd have to really be trying to spot any pixels on this display of this phone and on the down/plus for my situation.... It has a front facing camera but it is, unfortunately, no high quality camera... But, it gets the job done and the back makes up for the lack of a good Front-facing camera given it's a 8 MP shooter with LED which does pretty well in good lighting and 'decent' in low lighting situations. The phone is mainly for those who want good performance, the camera options aren't the best but in my opinion, the screen is great and the phone comes with many features which were never seen on the 635 like glance(Plus double tap to wake.), NFC and the ability to turn lighting to automatic an something really awesome, the software buttons hide and un-hide! Plus with 1 GB of RAM, this device has access to almost all if not all apps in the Windows Store. Another thing to note is that battery life is actually pretty decent given that you're not a heavy user, I can usually get by a day of off-and-on use easily from one charge. I may also note that the phone overall feels really nice and comfortable to the hands also pretty natural to use. And for all of you Tech people, like myself. This phone can run Windows 10 Technical Preview real well(I'm using it now... Although I had a hard time letting go of the improved version of 8.1 at first.) and although it is a beta software, it runs flawlessly and fluently on this device. This phone will be one of the first to also get the upgrade to Windows 10 once released, which is a plus.Read full review

The phone run flawlessly without any lag, and has a great battery life. Microsoft did a good job in including a front facing camera and a rear flash, which they don't really have in most budget phones. The bottom menu ribbon hides on this model so you don't mistakenly hit buttons while you're in the middle of a game. The 5 inch screen is just the right size for a first phone. As for the Windows Platform, it should have about 90% of the apps you'd really want to use. If you can live without the other 10%, or if this is your first smartphone. This phone is perfect for you.

I already owned one of these and loved it but cracked the screen, I ordered this as a replacement and popped in my sim card and it came rite on and restored all my settings, pics, contacts and apps. I would recommend this. its flawless and un glitch and has a very long battery life. Ill never go back to freezing, easily cluttered battery killing androids that need a app killer every few minutes

I use Straight Talk as my carrier and they use the ATT network. The Microsoft phone with windows 10 is an excellent phone for all basic smartphone needs. If you like to download tons of apps to play with, this is not the best choice. But if you need a good phone cheap will all the regular and basic functions this is a great bargain.
