About this product

Product Information

With every New York Times bestseller, Luanne Rice illuminates yet another of the secret wonders of the heart. Her unforgettable evocations of family, friendship, and loves lost and won in such novels as The Edge of Winter , Sandcastles , and Summer of Roses give voice to our most powerful emotions. Now she brings back two of her most beloved characters to tell of their journey across the sea to unravel the mysteries of a shared pastand two undying love affairs.... What Matters Most Sister Bernadette Ignatius has returned to Ireland in the company of Tom Kelly to search for the pastand the sonthey left behind. For it was here that these two long-ago lovers spent a season of magic before Bernadette's calling led her to a vocation as Mother Superior at Star of the Sea Academy on the sea-tossed Connecticut shore. For Tom, Bernadette's choice meant giving up his fortune and taking the job as caretaker at Star of the Sea, where he could be close to the woman he could no longer have but whom he never stopped loving. And while one miracle drew them apart, another is about to bring them together again. For somewhere in Dublin a young man named Seamus Sullivan is also on a search, dreaming of being reunited with his own first love, the only "family" he's ever known. They'd been inseparable growing up together at St. Augustine's Children's Home, until Kathleen Murphy's parents claimed her and she vanished across the sea to America. Now, in a Newport mansion, that very girl, grown to womanhood, works as a maid and waits with a faith that defies all reason for the miracle that will bring back the only boy she's ever loved. That miracle is at handbut like most miracles, it can come only after the darkest of nights and the deepest of heartbreaks. For life can be as precarious as a walk along a cliff, and its greatest rewards reached only by those who dare to risk everything...for what matters most.

I am very pleased with the price of this new book (the lowest I found). I'm happy with the prompt shipping. The only problem was that the box was damaged during shipping. The new book itself sustained very minor cosmetic damage, no doubt from rough handling. The seller offered to send me a return label at no cost, which I do appreciate. However, I was able to repair the slight damage very easily. Thanks again for your concern.

  • Luanne Rice - An Excellent Author

I began reading some of Luanne Rice's novels about a year ago. Since then I just can't get enough of her stories. She really has the necessary knack for developing the storyline, and keeps you involved with both major and minor characters. Sure, some of the story may not be palpable as far as what might actually could be expected to occur in real life, but it is fiction and Ms. Rice can invoke author's privilege! I thoroughly enjoy her writing and find it a welcome break from the hectic nature of today.

  • What Matters Most by Luanne Rice

I absolutely just love Luanne Rice as an author, I have most of all her books. When I bought "What Matters Most", I threw it on the bookshelf for quite awhile, I didn't have much time to read at the time. When I started reading this book, it was sort of hard for me to get into and I thought its got to get more interesting because Luanne wrote it. So I think it was like the 3rd. chapter and then it was like I have to keep reading this book to see how it ends! I admit it was very tempting not to read the last couple of chapters to see how it ended but I didn't, and I am so glad I didn't. The ending for me was shocking and wasn't how I wanted it to end. This is a GREAT BOOK but Please have some tissues handy toward the end!!!

  • An insightful novel

Book is a continuation of sandcastles by the same author. however even if you did not read Sandcastles this book stands on its own. What Matters Most gets you really thinking about what the title states what matters most. it had me thinking but at the same time it wasn't heavy reading where you got bored! This to me is one of Ms. Rice's best books yet!!!!! The family dynamics are fantastic!!! The characters are real people in real situations which is why I could not put the book down. I hope all Ms. Rice's readers get a chance to read this book !!

  • What Matters Most by Luanne Rice

This is a sequel to Luanne Rice's book Sand Castles,so couldn't wait to read this one. I love all of Luanne Rice's books and this one didn't disappointment me and was hard to put down. The ending was a surprise and you do need to have a tissue handy when you read this-I won't say what happens though, you have to read it yourself. But I do highly recommend you read Sand Castles first as you would have a better understanding of what this couple has gone through together over the years.

  • Another amazing book !

Where to start ..... this was by far the best Luanne Rice book so far. I agree that the ending wasn't my favorite but I am sure hoping the next book continues where this one left off. I am new to Luanne Rice books but I read one a day to catch up and now I am hooked !!!!!!!! Living in CT and spending summers at the shore, I dive right in as if I am there.
