For the first time in the Madden series an NFL license has been acquired, allowing you to play as real teams from the 1993-94 season. In total, there are 28 NFL teams, 38 Super Bowl teams since 1966, twelve All-Time Franchises since 1950 and two All-Madden teams. While the game continues to use the vertical playing perspective with three passing windows, players are now much larger than before and have new running and tackling animations.<br><br>Rounding out the features are 72 new plays that can be flipped in the opposite direction, reverse-angle instant replay, audibles that can be customized at any time, a bluff mode to disguise plays, and support for up to four players with the 4-Way Play adaptor. This 16-Meg cartridge also includes a battery to save your progress during the season.

Great football title for Genesis and beginning of monster franchise!
This was the first game I had for Genesis and I am trying to re-acquire all the games I had as a kid so I had to go out and get it. A great pick-up-and-play title as were most of the Genesis sports games. This was back around the start of the Madden series and started a lot of the stuff that is still in the series today. Simple play selection- One button instead of a combination of buttons as seen in most older football games. Relatively easy receiver selection for passes. John Madden's pointers throughout the game. Unfortunately, this very watered down compared to the SNES version. There are less modes and options to select, the Genesis' voice capabilities were pretty low, and for some reason, this version does not include player names- just number and position. I bought this Sega Genesis Madden '94 cartridge for a family member/Cowboys fan living in a nursing home. It works even on the AtGames (2015) plug n play Genesis, my uncle doesn't have an original Sega Genesis. So it was a dice roll, but surprisingly it works well. Thanks!

The first Madden game with NFL licensed teams and players! This was the first game I ever owned. Bought with my own money. I played it until my figers were blistered. On the Sega platform, the controllers were a little easier than the Nintendo controllers of the day. Also, I thought the Sega graphics were a little better. SEGA!
