  • All around good phone.

If you want the basic functionality of the Blackberry model of phone, then this is probably a safe bet. It lacks the newer trackball that I personally find quite useful, however all the basic programs are there. It's still quite capable of being a personal assistant, without all the "newfangled" bells and whistles of the modern day phone. The 8700 was released November 1, 2005. BlackBerry 8700c features include: Dynamic, highly responsive experience when viewing attachments and graphics, browsing the web and running applications Access up to 10 supported business and/or personal email accounts Integrated attachment viewing for popular file formats MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) allows you to combine text and images on a single message Bright, high-resolution screen provides ...

  • Deep blue BlackBerry 8700, exciting and user friendly

I bought this item as gift for my sister-in-law at a very affordable cost. She was incredibly amazed with its features which included: Java Enabled, MMS Enabled, Polyphonic Ringtones, Color Screen, Bluetooth Enabled, Calendar, Email Access, Internet Browser, MP3 Player, PDA-PC Sync, Text Messaging, QWERTY Keyboard, Push to Talk, Speakerphone, USB Interface. She just inserted her sim card and started making calls!! She was also thrilled with the deep blue colour of the phone. I was very glad she loved it. I would recommend this item to others.

  • Good deal

Since this phone is the older version you can get it cheap. I wanted to combine the address book and calendar I use with outlook with my phone without having to charge and carry two devices such as a palm pilot and a phone. This does the trick. I did not want to pay for a data plan (and be hounded 24 hrs a day by text and email) so purchasing this new phone was a cheap alternative that met my needs. The battery really lasts even with the combined functions for me (not using email though). I have on occasion had trouble with the voice shutting down ( a generic blackberry problem some people have), but hitting the volume control seems to fix it. I do miss the slimmer line of a phone however, and you have to lock the keyboard after use or your pants will dial the phone.

  • it is what it is, gets the job done.

needed a low costing phone to used with a gophone account where all i need is call and text capabilities. it is funny using one of these dinosaurs when you've been exposed to the world of smart phones. i like the full keyboard, although the buttons are somewhat small. the three main drawbacks for me are the track wheel, alt button (shift) location, and size. i don't like how you have to highlight and then click the track wheel to get into certain options - if the track wheel is loose, makes it difficult to keep the selected option highlighted before you can click into it. also, the alt button is in a tight location when you need to select nearby buttons. finally, it is bulky, heavy for a phone (am coming from using a sleek razr). if you just need to talk and text with a prepaid ...

  • DESPERATION ONLY!

This device is useful for someone who does alot of text messaging. Other than that it is pretty much worthless. The OS is bizarre and NOT user friendly. Paid around $35.00 for it and it is worth around $10.00. I once owned a Samsung Blackjack II, which is very similar in size and appearance, yet far superior in performance and ease of use. Ultimately, this device is a budget minded temporary fix for those of us awaiting upgrade eligibility. BTW, no SD slot and if it has a web browser I cant find it. Also, cannot import contacts from SIM.
