Great For Power Outages
This air pump is powerful enough for a 29 gallon tank. The AC cord is not 5’ as it claims however, I’d approximate that it’s 3’ so prepare to need an extension cord. The airline tubing it comes with is 20” long. It comes with an air stone that is handy but I went ahead and attached is to a spare sponge filter I had and it works very well. As for the noise, it’s not too bad, it’s equivalent to any other store bought air pump. It comes on when your power goes out and supplies enough oxygen for your fish until your power issue is resolved. This pump DOES NOT work by the power cord alone, you MUST have batteries for it to work. The cord is only used to detect a loss of power which will prompt the system to oxygenate while the power switch is turned on. You may want to put a check valve on it ... Old design worked better
The item shown in this picture is not what I received. I have 3 others w/ the design shown and they work fine. The new design does not have a hook to hang it, so I had to tie some heavy string to the clip on the back to keep it where I need it. It also has an on/off push button, not the rocker switch shown. This doesn't sound like a big deal, except that the button doesn't quite work properly. The rocker is either on or off. The push button wanted to run the pump even when plugged in w/ power going to it. Trying to open this new design to put in the batteries is very difficult. It took 2 of us to pry it open which is ridiculous. We're not old, decrepit people w/ arthritis either. Finally, this re-designed model does not put out anywhere near the same amount of air the old design ... The item shown in this picture is not what I received. The only good thing about this new design is that it comes on automatically (I hope. Not sure it will work properly w/ that push button problem.) so I don't have to be there to turn it on. However, since these pumps last less than 9 months even if they only run once for a few hours in that time period, I'll be looking for some different automatic on/off back-up air pumps w/ a better design that pump more air. This new design just doesn't cut it anymore.

Aquarium automatic battery back up air pump
Great little pump, should run for several days if we get a power cut, to give my aquarium inhabitants a fighting chance /oxygenated. A little peace of mind incase the unlikely happens. It also kicks out a lot of air and water movement. Happy!

Penn plax B11 too noisy
I believe a product should perform as indicated. This airpump works but it is annoyingly noisy. For what it's worth, if you're not around to hear it, (vacation) it will do. It's over priced in my opinion. I say, a $10 value airpump.
