Elle m ne souvent l'activation d'un oncog ne via la surexpression du proto-oncog ne correspondant. Plusieurs g nes ont t identifi s dans cette r gion mais les principaux candidats pour l'induction de la transformation cellulaire demeurent cdk4 et mdm2 d leur importance fonctionnelle dans la r gulation de la transition de la phase G1 S (premier point de contr le) du cycle cellulaire. Cependant, de r centes tudes cartographiques de l'amplicon 12q13-15 ont sugg r que cdk4 et mdm2 ne sont pas les prot ines principales cibl es puisque dans chacun des cas de sarcomes humains, l'amplicon n'inclut pas un ou l'autre des deux g nes. Nos tudes ont permis de cartographier un nouveau g ne dans la r gion 12q13, pr alablement identifi comme tant PRIM1 et codant pour la sous-unit catalytique de l'ADN primase, une enzyme impliqu e dans le processus de r plication de l'ADN. Nos tudes ont galement permis de d montrer que ce g ne tait amplifi dans plus de 40% des ost osarcomes humains tudi s.
