  • Good late cold war psychological and drama thriller.

Suspension of disbelief is difficult at times in this unconventional, sometimes far out story, but overall a very entertaining and tightly directed late cold war thriller. Sutherland and Archer shine as always. Part of the schizophrenic atmosphere of the plot may have something to do with it being filmed on location during the late part of the Polish upheaval in 1990, just before the first elections, but after they were a sure thing on the way. But mostly it is probably the writer and director delivering a deliberately convoluted, interesting historic drama about late 1970s communist Poland.
