I like that it allows you to roam free unlike the second game of the series. What I mean is, it seperates the campain from the free for all. The second game forces you to play a campain, but the third doesn't. You can take on conquest mode and just set out to destroy the Romulans or the Borg. I guess the only dissapointment is that you can't make the Galaxy class ship seperate like it did in the series. Another thing that gets anoying is that every time you try to expand your empire you only have one of two missions. You can scan a sector wich will always put you up agains a Ferangi Merauder, or sometimes a Pirate ship. Or you can save a freighter from Pirate attack. The second game of the series was good in the fact that you could do a variety of missions if you where at the right spot. Overall it is a well put together game, but it didn't go into the extras like the second game did. I mean the batleships and aircraft carriers, the fighters and all the bonus stuff. So I guess that was a set back. But it is still a good game, and nothing is funner then declaring all out war on an empire and just wiping out all their starbases and planets.Read full review
The third installment of the Star Trek series is set in the Star Trek: Next Generation universe. As the Klingons and Federation construct a controversial new starbase, the Romulans launch an attack. You must take all three sides in ship-to-ship combat as you command your starship to victory. The game's real-time combat features a streamlined interface, plus improved ship management and maneuvering. Also, for the first time in a Star Trek game, you can recruit and improve officers. Its a hard game to find and the prices that some are asking are a bit much, so show around and get the best deal you can.
Love it or hate it - I always loved this somehow "odd" title in the Star Trek game franchise. The wierd story behind it makes it even more particular - as a collector's item for sure...

The best Star Fleet game yet! More realistic the the first 3! Damage can be repaired and hull condition improves, Weapons can be changed or substituted, Ships are more current, Warp drive is new and gives the player a better escape than the past versions. The only drawback is that the screen is to small, I need a bigger LCD, It works fantistic on my 26" lcd TV.
