These two Seagate Hard Drives seem to be working. The Seller did cause confusion, because it took awhile to find the Hard Drives with specifications that I requested. They said one Drive was bad and asked if I wanted a refund. Then, they said that they found another Hard Drive and shipped them. The Seller also, increased the price of these Hard Drives. It was still a good price. Shipping took a little longer than I expected, from China. The Drives were packed safely with bubble wrap.

Purchased as a replacement for the exact same model which had lasted about 8 years under intensive use. Since that was my only real comparison in choosing a new drive, I decided if the new one lasted as long, by then my laptop would be in a museum. Its quiet & the 5400 RPM does not bother me. Your internet connection and system memory have more noticeable affects. Given 4 stars because its still a hard drive. This is an easy one to recommend. Purchased as a replacement for the exact same model which had lasted about 8 years under intensive use. Since that was my only real comparison in choosing a new drive, I decided if the new one lasted as long, by then my laptop would be in a museum. Its quiet & the 5400 RPM does not bother me. Whatever you do, don't buy this.
On the surface, its a gr8 drive: Slim, not as fast as the manufacturer claims, but it has only one platter which means greater durability which would make up for the speed problem if you travel a lot and need your data secure.. Only it didn't keep my data secure! Just two weeks after I got it, it was perched on my desk and work fine for a couple of hours - then suddenly I got "Corrupted file system error" and all the contents disappeared. Tried disktest, tried every data recovery in the book.. NOTHING WORKED! The data recovery programs simply told me both the MFT and the mirror are corrupt and that's it. In an act of despertion I tried to rescan the entire disk and rebuild the boot sector, only disktest even failed to rebuild.. Luckily i had a backup less than a ...
