Had to pull the back off and move the counter balance weight. Not happy with this heater at all. Its good for the garage and that is it.

    SOME GREAT GET HEAT FAST!

    As advertised and well-constructed! Shipping fast! The Dayton is much more than the standard electric portable heater. With its various settings for force air and convection heating this heater has it covered from low (convection-no fan) to high (force air-fan on) heating and everything in between. Set-up is no-nonsense; heavy duty cord-3 prong connection, after briefing yourself with enclosed instructions, plug it in and you're warming up in no time. I tried all the various settings just after receiving my heater, very impressed to say the least! In convection mode (not engaging the fan) the radiant heat output was comfortable and pleasant. After going through the various settings to familiarize myself I then placed it at its highest setting to take the chill off and found on a number of ...

    Not all that good.

    The fan does not work on the low setting. It makes a lot of rattling noise when the fan works on the other higher settings. It heats well.

    Taking a gamble on durability.

    Heater heats well at 900 watt setting which is where the fan starts. Note the fan doesn't come on at the 600 watt setting. I am hoping it is a good alternative to current trend of 1300/1500 watt heaters where the fan goes out within a few months. With the fan break down it takes a few of those a year at 7000 foot elevation. There is no discernible difference between 1300 to 1500 watts. Gone are the good old 750/1500 watt heaters that would last 10+ years. Happy so far but only time will tell if my gamble pays off.

Heater gives off surprising amount heat on medium setting. There are three settings on this caged, light weight, top handled tip over resistant heater.
