    Best shim - bang for the buck.

    THE alternative for mounting a front derailleur on my steel rig, My frame was designed mainly as a 1X gravel bike. Of course, I decided to embark on a mission to set it up for road use for a few months... Without these two little pieces of rock solid plastic, the conversion would have never happened. I first tried making my own home grown shim from a thick plastic. Thanks to obvious cable tensions and stresses, my DIY shim required constant adjustment. Shimano brand shim is being used to mount a 31.8 Problem Solver brand cyclocross pulley band, not a Shimano derailleur by the way. Now, the pulley doesn’t budge. At over twenty bucks each, I certainly didn’t want to buy another pulley with a 28.6 band, nor a Shimano CX top pull derailleur. I just want to do some ‘gear inch testing.’ 365 ...
