An indispensable and surprisingly entertaining guide for anyone who is retiring or thinking of retiring with all of the Social Security benefits they've earned., Just what we need: a clear explanation of how Social Security works-and how to get the highest benefits-without reading all 2,728 rules of the Social Security system., I love this book! Seriously! Who could ever guess that reading about Social Security could be this entertaining? And if you think you know enough about the subject, you would be wise to think again. Great information

Excellent product and information about the confusing and challenging SS process. I gave the book four stars only because it is somewhat complicated for the average person to understand. The author also tends to inject his humor into the complicated and confusing explanation of some rationally inexplicable SS requirements. I found it compelling to learn that the difference between taking payments early rather than later was a whopping 76% difference. This could be important for those who must rely mostly on these payments for their retirement income. Of course, one's health is always a factor to be included the decision. I would also suggest that you consider an excellent alternative produced and available by the same authors. It is computer software titled "Maximize my Social Security." ...

  • Top critical review

Hard to follow, its all examples.

I have gone through the book and still can't find how to apply for the extra money. The book seems to be all boilerplate with no or a hidden message on how to file for the extra money. I sat through the online sepal and again all boilerplate with a sales pitch to buy the book. I feel like I have been had.

  • Not a good reference book, poor writer.

The book is great condition, but not easy read, not laid out well. It would be a great reference book if it had been written in a straight forward manner with clarity. Not the book vendors problem, but the author. I would not waste money on buying one.

  • What you don't know could cost you dearly

This is the kind of book that you need to read and heed several years before you or your spouse reach age 60. This book explains the ins and outs of the Social Security rules to fully maximize the benefits available to you. The folks at the Social Security Administration are not going to give you any more help than what you ask for. It's kind of like a "don't ask, don't tell" policy, where if you don't ask them for advice to maximize your allowable benefits, they certainly aren't going to tell you another way to file to increase the monetary benefits you could be receiving. Most importantly, it gives you guidance about when you and your spouse should file, and request spousal benefits. If you've already started to receive Social Security benefits, this probably would be a very sad ...
