I contacted Shars and they requested I ensure the micrometer was OK, pulled it out no scratched or damage, installed battery and tested Zero and reading capabilities - all ok. Shars indicated they'd send out a replacement case. Arrived today and it was perfect. I keep all my precision tools in original cases so happy they resolved my shipper issue. Another GREAT Shars purchase.
