Good value
Good quality
have bought 8 dewalt drills
Began with a 12 volt moved up to I believe 14 then 18 wore out 5 as I worked on several projects . did not baby them . Good rugged cordless drills , Had friends with all the other makes .From the cable tv .guy all used De walt . The 20 volt is a great success ! My only 2 complaints are The bag is too small ........another 8 x 8inches or so and you could put all you need in the bag! Big deal nope I found a larger bag and haul my charger 2 batteries , drill bits ( two dewalt pilot bits yes they are worth the lil extra .....screwdriver bits ....and extensions of different lengths ....screwdrivers ,small vicegrip pliers and a small hi powered LED flashlight . BIGGEST C O M P L A I N T !!!!! YOU NEED A FLASH LIGHT ! ! !! THE LIGHT THEY PAID SOME HIGH DOLLAR ENGINEER ON THE DRILL WILL NOT WILL NOT SHINE ON THE END OF THEBIT WHILE DRILLING IF YOU ARE IN A DARK PLACE IT WILL LIGHT UP ALL OVER THE AREA UNDER THE BIT ..........DEWALT PLEASE TAKE NOTE !!!!!! Other than that the batteries last forever ,,,when they go down instead of after a brief time you wait and they began drilling ,,,,,,these stop ....no problem you drop the discharged one slide into charger (take a 12 light extension cord in you big bag ) and put fresh one in and you are set to go !!!! Again the dang light is useless !!! except to find your keys . I do volunteer work at a 150 acre park they bought4 20 volt last year to add to our 2 new 20 volt dewalt s it made my mind up to get one and another for a Christsmas gift for son in law .....they are great !!! no go
bought 2, both on high speed, when you let off the trigger the chuck opens and the drill falls out 75% of the time. sent one to dewalt repair , they sent it back to me with no change.1 of them went to the trash barrel already. no dewalt for me no more.
Good power in this drill
Got tire of having a cheap, off-brand cordless drill that ran out of juice after drilling about 8 holes. This is with a brand new battery (totally unacceptable), and then taking all night to re-charge so I can have it run out of juice again. I could also hold the drill tip and squeeze the trigger and hold the drill from spinning. Totally impossible with this Dewalt! It about tore my hand off. :) Very happy with it. Also VERY happy it came with TWO batteries, the charger AND a bag to put it all in! And at $98 for this, you can't beat it.

DeWalt power tools in general
This one is simple. Talk to anyone who seriously works in construction of any of the trades. It is DeWalt or Makita. Simple. For home and common use? Save some money and get Black and Decker. With professional quality tools, the price is a premium. So ask yourself how rough and how much abuse will the tool receive from your use? Regarding other brands... I um unfamiliar with Bosch - What I have seen are mixed reviews. Porter-Cable was once considered top notch, however, they have changed ownership a number of times. and I am no longer familiar with their current build quality. It it says made in China...Today, most products - brand name - are manufactured in China. Look closely at your iPhone. it says "Designed in California, made in China." Designed. I have also seen "conceived" "inspired" etc in USA and made in China, Thailand, etc on well-known top grade Brands.. Finally, specific. The repeated increase in voltage requirements correlates to greater power. at 20v Max this is good thing. Just recently DeWalt have created plus 20v variable batteries which claim to be higher voltage, yet backward compatible to their lower voltage product. FINALLY!! However, in my view, they are still way over priced. Note, this is NOT my only drill. I still have an AC powered drill or two, and I still use a 30 year old 7.4volt Makita. This DeWalt fits nicely into a gap that is sorely needed. It fills a spot that it will be heavily used in. I will still use the other tools, in areas that they are simply more appropriate for. Other reviews have complained about the the gear chuck is no longer metal and some others have complained the chuck does not stay tight and the drill bit ultimately falls out. Face Slap to them. DeWalt does make heavier duty drill that have metal chucks. guess what they cost more. (have one for a few specific uses) So just pay some more if you have to have a metal chuck and steel gears. simple. Regarding the problem with securing the bit. ALL, keyless chucks a manual hand twist and DeWalt offers the additional clicking sound to be certain it IS secure. Simply READ THE MANUAL! All brands specify this. Cheers

Terrific drill. Does everything I want it to do.
Relatively inexpensive, great quality. Batteries hold charge nicely, and recharge fast. Comfortable to hold and use. Quality drill. I bought one for my daughter too who said she "had drill envy". She's thrilled. I only wish the bag were somewhat bigger. Manufacturers never seem to understand that OTHER accessories than those that came with the tool will need to be kept with the tool.
