You will need this part.
I trash picked the Dyson that uses the brush roll end cap. After I replaced the broken one, the vac works like it should, if only the original owner knew about this part. Dyson's design might be flawed so if own this style vac I'd replace or purchase a new end cap to have on hand. Be aware that my old end cap had broken apart and I had to remove the broken piece from the brush roll before the new cap would work.
