    Add RAM to a 5 year old iMac (mid 2011)

    I bought these RAM chips primarily because they were half the price of that offered by OWC computing. They installed easily and the iMac immediately reported a RAM upgrade from 4 to 12 gigs. Of course, time will tell about their durability but I must say that the speed bump was not what I expected from all the articles I read about how adding RAM would revitalize an older Mac. I still get the spinning beachball at times and it's not just when I have 4 or 5 Apps open at the same time. In fairness, I can't blame this on the RAM seller because they didn't write the articles lauding the speed benefits of more RAM.
