  • The life of a Household service worker from 14 years of age.

Although I have not yet completed reading the book so far it's a delightful light hearted peek into the life of a household service worker in the 1930's. All from the eyes of a then 14 year old young girl. She starts at the very bottom as a scullery maid and works her way up over the course of many years. Think Downstairs at Downton Abbey without all the upstairs created drama.

  • TRUE LIFE STORY.

THIS IS A CHARMING TRUE LIFE STORY ABOUT SOMEONE WHO WORKED AS A SCULLERY MAID FROM 14 YEARS OF AGE. IN A GRAND DOWNTON ABBEY STYLE HOUSE WITH MANY OTHER SERVANTS. SHE WORKED HARD AND BECAME A COOK. A COVETED POSITION. I ENJOYED READING IT.
